Can Anyone Write Me an Opening Chapter Please? Fairytale Writers Needed

Dear Pottering Artist, do you think you could manage to write about 600-1,000 words as the opening chapter in response to my illustration below?

I would love to hear your take on this (you can write whatever comes to your writer's mind) and your submission could win you this gorgeous miniature book-making kit (worth £14.99) plus the chance to have me illustrate the chapter you write!

Win the chance to have me illustrate your writing with a unique and whimsical illustration
& receive this elegant and charming miniature book-making kit by the talented
Daniela Jaglenka Terrazzini

Entrants will need to pay a small entry fee to keep me in tea and cake during the fortnight when I am ensconced in my attic furiously poring over your fabulous entries, picking a winner and then illustrating (in secret) the winner's chapter in a suitable medium and manner!

This all takes time and energy you see - cake energy in particular.

If you like to use your imagination in a slightly fairytale cum folkloric style please get scribbling. I'd love to hear your very short folktales.

Also on the 29th I shall publish all other chapters as I am sure they will be of interest to readers. These will be published on a special page accessible via the tabs that run along the width of this front page.

Off you go!

  1. I can't resist an opportunity to write! Hope you get lots of entries to this competition - such a great idea! I've paid my entry fee and will send my offering shortly - and no, it's not my goal to win all your competitions but I can't resist contributing! I've always wanted to write a children's book but lacked the illustrations (not my thing...) Chapter One to Minka and Moz and the Magic Cauldron is on its way!

  2. Epic! I am delighted that this piques your interest and stirs your writing soul Diane:) Thanks for your entry which is now duly noted on my writer's register. I am going to read it this evening in the calm of the day when all my work is done. I also love that you have named the book! I didn't think of that. Wonderful addition to your opening chapter entry.
